T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond – 2019
Joe is a native Central Virginian, former Airborne Ranger, alumnus of the University of Richmond and the T. C. Williams School of Law, and the Principal at Herbert Law in Henrico, Virginia.
Joe joined the U. S. Army in November of 2007, during the second surge of troops in the Global War on Terrorism. This was the beginning of a whirlwind adventure that would permanently alter the trajectory of his life. Upon completion of infantry training at Fort Benning, GA, Joe was offered, and quickly accepted, the opportunity to attend the Ranger Indoctrination Program (RIP). A little over a month later Joe found himself in RIP, where he was vying for an infantryman’s slot in the vaunted 75th Ranger Regiment. Thanks to the right mix of luck, determination and teamwork Joe was able to pass RIP and gain admission to the 75th Ranger Regiment as an infantryman. Two weeks later Joe found himself boarding a C-130 headed to Afghanistan for his first combat rotation. During his time in 3rd Ranger Battalion Joe had the opportunity to attend the Army’s premier leadership course, U. S. Army Ranger School, among many other opportunities to work alongside military professionals of the highest caliber from the U. S. Army as well as service members from other branches and nations. In early 2011, Joe decided it was time to wrap up his adventure in the U. S. Army and go to college.
The skills and experiences Joe gained as incident to his service steeled him, both, physically and psychologically. Joe found himself craving intellectual challenges. Accordingly, Joe attended the University of Richmond where he studied early American history, with a focus on the history of the Commonwealth of Virginia and the systems of government that were used as a model for the United States of America and other commonwealths and states therein. Following Joe’s graduation, summa cum laude, from the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies, in December of 2015, Joe gained admission to the T. C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond as a member of the class of 2019. While in law school, Joe benefited from a wide range of practical experience and internships, such as working at a law firm, a financial services start-up, a lobbying firm during the Virginia General Assembly’s 2018 assembly session, and organizing various charity and pro bono events as President of a student veterans organization, all while balancing his scholastic responsibilities. The same mix of luck, determination and hard work that aided Joe during his military adventures allowed him to graduate from the T. C. Williams School of Law in May of 2019 and gain admission to the Virginia State Bar in October of 2019.
Following graduation and admission to the Virginia State Bar, Joe worked at a small law firm in Richmond, Virginia where he gained myriad legal experience working in many areas of law such as Contract Drafting and Disputes, Lemon Law, Fair Housing and Landord-Tenant to Real Estate, Criminal, and Estate Planning matters, prior to opening Herbert Law on September 1, 2020. Joe focuses his practice on Estate Planning, Real Estate and Contract matters.
When not working, Joe enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, Robyn, and their two dogs, Buford and Roscoe.
